I remember when this book come out years ago. I wanted it then but I never bought it for some reason. Then, the book was offered on sale last year and I bought it for my Kindle. I still didn’t read the book for some reason. I wish I had because I turned 40 last year. I read the book now because I’m ready for the message of the book NOW and I’m still in that “Just turned 40” phase of life.
So needless to say, I related to many aspects of the book.
At the same time, it can be as good or as bad as we wish it to be. From what I read in the book, Teri had a trei time getting to know her grown-up self at I also feel that my brunt years are just beginning too. I’m also learning what really matters.
I’m truly growing into my skin, while learning to let go of the things from my first phase in life that I can’t change. These are all themes that Teri talks about.
She also talks about the life of a single mom. You know, some people might say so what, there’s lots of single moms out there. This is true but that doesn’t mean that being a single mom is easy! There are real challenges that women face as single mothers, especially as they are hitting a major life change at the same time.
Finally, there were moments that I was tempted to tear up at the words of wisdom she passes on. Indeed, I did weep after reading her final words.
Again, while this book has been on my radar for years, now was the time in my life that I was supposed to read her message. The only reason why I gave this book a four and not hatchre five, was because some parts of the stories did ramble or drag on. I’ve placed so many highlighted notes in my Kindle version. This books is a keeper! Teri was so open and honest about her life in this book. It really is amazing how we all seem to be the same inside, regardless of the different paths we each take in life.
As Teri mentioned, I think we all need to have more kindness towards each other, celebrities included. Just because she is a celebrity does not mean she does not go through the same ups and downs we all do. Celebrities have feelings too and do not deserved to be bullied by anyone, most notably by the tabloids. I highly recommend this book.
It gives us a rare glimpse into the true feelings of a star who seems to have all of the same thoughts and feelings the rest of us do. One person found this helpful. When I first heard about this book, I have to say that I was not interested at all.
I thought, what does a successful Hollywood actress know about pain? As tkast turns out, that hatcyer matter what you do for a living, where you live or who you are, there is a human connection and a non-exemption from the ups and downs of life that cannot be avoided or bought.
We ALL have the same fears, insecurities and struggles. I found that I could really relate to Teri, just as a woman who is searching, hoast, failing, succeeding and learning about life, as well as herself.
Excerpt: ‘Burnt Toast’ by Teri Hatcher – ABC News
It was very brave of her to reveal herself. Most famous people hide behind and perpetuate the facade that they are better than the rest of us, are perfect and have no problems. The the truth is that money, fame and success cannot keep you from learning and experiencing painful lessons in your life. We all have issues, but most of us won’t admit that. We want people to think that we have all the answers and have everything together and under control.
I was moved by her honesty and vulnerability. She is a very talented writer and I could not put the book down. I have recommended this book to every woman I know. This book is really interesting and inspiring and I was actually sad when it had come to an end because I wanted more. A quick, fun read with nice humor. Teri seems to be just another gal who happens to work on the set of one of the most popular TV shows of her time, bouncing between staying grounded and fulfilling her obligations in Hollywood.
I admire her balancing act between acting and parenting. I enjoyed reading about her charming relationship with her daughter. Yes, Jerry, Teri is real, and as a real person, she is spectacular! I have to commend Terri for having the chutzpah to be so open and share her most intimate life details with the world, especially knowing how fickle hollywood-ers can be. She shows us the real side of a real single mom. Actually, being a single mom of a 7 year old girl myself, I really related to her.
I could not believe that a Hollywood tabloid-exciter was going through the same exact issues I have had to deal with. Especially those which money cannot solve, like having to sit at the kitchen table just the two of you with your little one. We also will usually end on the Living room floor. And other seeming little issues like knowing it’s up to you to kill that spider that crawls up the ceiling.
Terri I feel you like a sister. Now if I had been Terri’s editor and I’m a writer I might have advised her to refrain from giving direct advice to readers, but rather just share what she went through and what she did about it, or what she learned she should have done differently, then leave it up to readers to deduce what they will.
I applaud her for being so candid, even being a celebrity. Cuz the things she shared with the world, even I couldn’t share with some of my friends. I just didn’t get it. I am a fan of Teri Hatcher and I was expecting more of a biography. This was more of what you should do or feel about your life, according to how she feels about her own. I may have enjoyed it more if I had realized that before I started reading it.
Audio CD Verified Purchase. It is cheaper to buy the CD than buying the book at least right now. It saves you time, because you can hear it as you do cleaning, cooking, or working out etc.
Also, it makes a great gift to give it to any women who love Tari Hatcher especially if she doesn’t have time to read a book. See all 93 reviews. There’s a problem loading this menu right now.
