Vicki Keire grew up in a 19th Century haunted house in the Deep South full of books, abandoned coal chutes, and plenty of places to get into trouble with her siblings. She spent the last decade teaching writing and literature at a large, football obsessed university while slipping pa.
She spent the last decade teaching writing and literature at a large, football obsessed university while slipping paranormal fiction in between the pages of her textbooks. When not reading and writing about all things paranormal, she indulges in her eclectic musical tastes, enjoys other people’s cooking, keeps vampire hours, and adds to her massive stockpile of quirky t-shirts and blank but designer notebooks.
She’d rather burn the laundry than fold it. She believes that when an author wins the Newberry, he or she gets a secret lifetime pass to Neverland. She still lives in the Deep South with her husband, two children, two dogs, and three cats, but is pretty sure her house isn’t haunted. A person can’t be so lucky twice.
Gifts of the Blood is the first of a trilogy set in the mythical town of Whitfield, where she has several other paranormal series planned. Whitfield is a compilation of all she loves about her upbringing with a sprinkling of the things she doesn’t.
She spends time there when stymied on other projects, but also because it’s an interesting world in its own right. Even though she created it and the people who live there, it still has the power to surprise her. She hopes you enjoy it as much as she does. You can learn more about it and her other projects at:.

And I’m just that happy that it’s live. View all 4 comments. I loved the relationship between Caspia and Ethan in this book. There was very little romantic drama which made me happy because I get tired of stories where one minute she loves him and other minute she doesn’t.
I’m happy that the story gets more complex at the blod and leaves you hanging. Excited to see what happens next. In book two Darkness in the Blood of the Angels’ Edge series, the story starts nicely where Gifts of the Blood left off, and takes off at the speed of light. This book absolutely tops it’s prequel in excitement, suspense, romance, magic, mysticism and adventure.
Ms Keire has an incredible darkess and mastery of writing that captures a readers interest quickly and holds on through every thf page. The hook that entrances a reader isn’t just within the storyline with this series, it als 4.
The hook that entrances a reader isn’t just within the storyline with this series, it also lies within the well crafted, almost poetic, imagery and emotion.
The story weaves the world of light and dark together in a way that aptly defines how there is nothing in our world or any other that is as clear as black and white or light and darkit is truly countless shades of grey. The story builds on the foundation vicmi in Gifts of the Blood, allowing the reader to more deeply connect with it’s characters.
The relationship between Caspia and Ethan takes on a new dimension with his mortality bringing in a pinch of vulnerability that the excitement of new love often overshadows.
Ethan’s choice creates an air of uncertainty between then, giving more realistic depth to their relationship. Logan’s role becomes stronger later on the in the book as does Asheroth’s who’s story I’m certain holds much more than has already been revealed.
Overall this is an incredibly well written, exciting and enchanting story with a refreshingly unique storyline about Fallen Angels, Nephilim and all things supernatural. It kept me up well into the wee hours of the morning, not able to put it down, and I couldn’t wait to pick it up again this morning. Well worth the read The second war between light and dark. Caspia has no time to think about that right now, not with Ethan ij his transition into humanity which doesn’t go as smoothly as they had hoped.
Until Ethan discovers that it isn’t the transition that is the issue but the complete fact that he’s darknews so completely mortal he has nothing barring him from any of the supernatural forces, making him appear clumsy when it really was the different people that made up the small town of Bloodd.
That is when Dr. Christian gives Caspia an offer she can’t refuse, only she doesn’t agree to it until Jack, another Nephilim that hlood call on shadows, comes to her aid in a dream. A skill he calls Dreamwalking. Events unfold rapidly, more secrets are revealed and more mysteries are presented. All of this comes to an abrupt end when Caspia finally comes face to face with Belial. Ethan’s brother and jn likeness–except for his b,ood I give this one 4 stars because of the many areas that had missing words in the sentences and the way this one didn’t hold me as well as the first one, at least until the final few chapters.
I hope the third one is just as gripping–if not more. Also available on Amazon and on my site at www. I am not a “young” adult, so it is difficult for me to judge whether my grumble is because of my age I wish that Ms.
Keire would have a little less drama, drama, drama in the story. The main character always jumps to the conclusion that she is the ONLY one who can save the day, and it gets a little wearing after a while. I was really hoping that after the first book we vicmi see a little less of that. I was so thrilled with the “new”, for me at least, area of fan I am not a “young” adult, so varkness is difficult for me to judge whether my grumble is because of my age I was so thrilled with the “new”, for me at least, area of fantasy that these books bring.
I hope Ethan gets his powers back. The ending was incredible!!! Jan 30, Chelsea rated it really liked it Shelves: This second book in the Angel’s Edge series is an improvement over the first in that I was keide to relax a little – the sinister atmosphere of the first book is gone in favour of more action right from the very start of the book.
That said, Caspia still irritated me quite a bit. Darkness in the Blood
She’s impulsive, somehow thinks she can protect her loved ones without consulting them bood all particularly when it’s obvious they’re keeping many secrets from herbumbling when she is pro-active and generally trying to keep her head in the sand otherwise. She laments a time when she didn’t have to worry about all the threats that face vlood and chooses to embrace Though we’re up to three guys who might be interested in Caspia, I never felt the novel pushed anything other than the Caspia-Ethan romance.
This is good, given what Ethan gave up for her in the first book in the series. I was thrilled that the novel was bold enough not to lean on the love triangle!
Generally speaking, Angel’s Edge is a fantastic universe to spend time in. I loved the richness of the angel-Nephilium material, and the layers of magic and magical creatures in Whitfield.
Looking forward to the third book! Well, I’m kind of wishing kn now that I’d either rated the previous book 4 stars or that it was possible to rate a book higher than 5 stars, because Keire’s book Darkness in the Blood was darknses better than the previous.
Though I had relatively few issues with the first book, I did question one of the bloos dramatic parts. There was no excessive drama in this book, it’s just the fast-paced, nail biting drama of a girl who’s out to save the world.
Everything was just better this time around. Clea Well, I’m darknesa of wishing right now that I’d either rated the previous book 4 stars or that it was possible to rate dsrkness book higher than 5 stars, because Keire’s book Darkness in the Blood was even better than the previous.
Cleaner prose, polished writing style, nicely paced story line and all the same great characters you’ve come to know and love. It’s funny, though, once again my favorite characters are the side ones: Asheroth, Cassandra, and the beloved Logan. I was a bit disappointed to see less of Amberlyn this time vicko, however.
Overall, this is a prime example of great YA fiction and a credit to indie authors. Caspia has a lot to deal with in this book, most of which I can’t talk about without spoiling anything.
It’s another well written book by this author with a lot of emotion and mystery mixed in.
