To play the example you cite, put your fingers over the notes that are on the staff: Gavotx on the 6th string, E on the 5th string and G natural on the 4th string. A on the 6th string, C on the 5th string cyoro A on the 4th string. The notes will sound like the notes written below- “effet: The C is especially important, because it’s the top note of the chord and the resolution of the D before it.

So, try to bring those notes out.

Zurcher beat me to it! I assumed it was something like that and trying to do it only produced faint tones. Plucking closer to the bridge seems to help.

I thought it was something a bit more complicated like holding down those notes and plucking at the octave above This is a wonderful piece and is sounding better each week. I remember when I first learned that piece, I couldn’t get those harmonics to sound at all! You really have to pluck hard, while using the lightest possible touch in the left hand, to get them to come out. What messure are yo talking about exactely? When I was attending the Guitar Festival in Koblenz in May this year, Fabio Zanon played the whole complete work for guitar solo by Villa Lobos as a hommage to his 50th year of death, except “Gavotta- choro”!!!
