It has a honeywell series control. On the gordon piatt burner, I have pulled the burner, and cleaned replaced the ignition, transformer, spark wire, and pilot valve and coil.

After all of that it was still periodically tripping out on pilot, and main flame, at random sometimes it would run a month, so after all of that i replaced the control, still doing the same thing, I goreon 3. Have a great spark and as far as i can tell it lights piart time on my pilot and still get a pilot error.

When it goes out on main flame, it takes 3 secs and i loose my pilot. I have taken away gas given more gas still no change, has anyone ever had this problem? Looking for advise thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. I would verify all the grounding next, as you do not have many more parts to change.

Not any help but that company started in my hometown. The ground is good and, I’m getting a 5 on my flame signal, which is max out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk. I’m puzzled by the way some are allowed to change part after part There is not better place for the working men than the union! I for sure, have had the problem of giving more gas!

Tug on all the wires to be sure they are tight. I deal with intermittent boiler issues all the time. What is the model number of you burner so I can better understand.

Do you have combustion analyzer? What kind of flame sensor does it use. I know it can be frustrating dealing with intermittent faults. Good effort replacing the honeywell programmer. Does the programmer use a flame amplifier card installed on the bottom of the blue box?

Next time don’t replace the programmer for pilot faults or burner faults. What are your fault code numbers? You can view the fault history from the programmer screen. I can show you how to put a end to these nuisance trips just need more info. For safety reasons what is your background with steam boilers? More important is the boiler low pressure, medium or high pressure?

Do you have a service manager you could talk too about this? If not your talking to one now. It is a low pressure system it has an amplifier and scanner not a rod i have check the ground and wire connections, I have been working on steam boilers for about three years we had four of our services guys quit, and I don’t like to say no I have a combustion anylis Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk.

I agree A combustion analysis would provide good insight on what is going on. I Like you attitude. I’m glad it is low pressure.

I just wanted to make sure you understand steam can be dangerous.

Get the model number and the fault code numbers. Is this a 3 phase unit? Is there a ground wire pulled into the burner from the electrical panel?

Make sure your pilot isn’t getting too much gas. Your pilot should be set to the lowest setting and still get ignition. Similar to a pilot turndown except honeywell has a test burneg built into their control modules to do so. Also save that old flame safeguard control. It’s generally the last thing to fail intermittently.

If a flame safeguard fails it will be either all black no lights completely fried or it will say internal fault when you plug in your reader. If your tripping on main flame as well then there may be other issues aside from these. Make sure everything is clean well secured and grounded. Burnrr edited by ace; at
